What is Aquamation?
Also called alkaline hydrolysis, water reduction, bio-cremation, green cremation, and flame-less cremation, Aquamation is an emerging form of body care that is gentler to the environment. It has been around for decades and is used in the human world too. More and more communities are learning about its benefits and joining the revolution to offer a more sustainable, eco-friendly alternative.
How Does It Work?
The Bannon Bridge Pet system uses alkaline hydrolysis to essentially accelerate what takes place in natural decomposition in the soil. A combination of gentle water flow, temperature, and alkalinity is used to accelerate the natural course of time. At the end of the process, the body has been returned to its natural form in water. Similar to cremation, the only solid remains are the mineral ash of the bones. The ash is a light sage or white color because it retains more minerals, is clean, and without carbon discoloration. Because the bone and ash need to go through drying time, a day or two more is needed before cremains can be returned to families. Aquamation generates a sterile, EPA-neutral liquid solution of amino acids, peptides, and sugars that is suitable for release onto the earth or discharged into the sewer system. Communal cremains will be spread on Dr. Robertson’s family farm.
Private and communal services are available using Aquamation. A communal Aquamation means the cremains will not be returned to families. Private Aquamation means your pet’s cremains will be returned to you.
